NLCS Jeju Junior School FOBISIA Pathway
One of the most common questions asked by younger students is:
“How do I become a FOBISIA athlete?”

Step 1
Selection
Each year, around February, selected students receive an official FOBISIA Selection Letter from the school informing them that they have been chosen to represent NLCS Jeju.

How I Felt When I Received My Selection Letter
Receiving my FOBISIA Selection Letter was one of the most exciting moments of my time at NLCS Jeju.
Although the official selection criteria may vary from year to year, my impression is that teachers look for students who actively participate in PE lessons, demonstrate a positive attitude, work hard, and consistently show commitment to sport.
Most students selected for the U11 FOBISIA Games are usually from Year 5 and Year 6. However, younger students can also be selected if they demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication, and strong effort.
In fact, both in 2024 and 2025, more than five Year 4 students were selected to join the FOBISIA Squad.
My advice to younger students is simple:
Work hard, stay positive, support your teammates, and never assume you are too young to be selected.
FOBISIA is not only about being the fastest or strongest athlete. It is also about teamwork, attitude, commitment, and representing your school with pride.
Step 2
Joining the FOBISIA Squad
After selection, students officially become members of the FOBISIA Squad.
From February until the Games in May, squad members train regularly through:
- Saturday Bryant training sessions
- Weekly CCA training sessions
These sessions help students prepare physically, mentally, and as a team for the FOBISIA Games.
Students participate in training across all four FOBISIA sports:
- Athletics
- Swimming
- Football
- Tee Ball
During this period, teachers observe students' progress, commitment, teamwork, and overall development. As the Games approach, students are assigned to specific events and positions based on their strengths and performance during training.
For many students, this is an exciting part of the journey, as they gradually discover which events they will represent NLCS Jeju in at the Games.
Student Insight
"When I first joined the squad, I didn't know exactly which events I would compete in. Through the training sessions, I was able to improve my skills, work with my teammates, and learn where my strengths were. The squad training period is not only about preparing for the Games, but also about becoming part of the team."
